Job Description
Design, implement, and support Oracle 9i and Oracle 8i databases. Migrate different Oracle database versions. Maintain and support existing MS SQL servers. Responsible for monitoring performance, troubleshooting, database tuning and query analysis. Conduct complex backup, recovery and query tuning. Provide guidance to developer and operations support. Coordinates and participates in moderately sized database projects. Develop programs using PL/SQL. Write functional and technical specification documents. Coordinate testing procedures with Q/A group. Interact with client representatives. Perform data conversion to support architecture changes. Perform some post-production responsibilities, operations training, engineering documentation, and re-engineering assignments. Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hour and weekend support.

Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline plus five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as a Database Administrator or related occupation, including:
  • Five years of experience performing core DBA activities on large-scale applications including stored procedure development and system tuning;
  • Five years of experience working with Oracle internals and Oracle standby databases in a high availability database environment;
  • Five years of experience working with OLTP, data modeling, as well as stored procedure development and testing; and working with complex and advanced database concepts.

Experience may be gained concurrently. Any suitable, equivalent combination of education, training, or post-baccalaureate experience is acceptable, as are foreign equivalent degrees.

Position Summary
The operations department for CapitalStream currently has an opening for an application Systems Administrator. This position will be reporting to the Director of Technical Operations. This position will be primarily responsible in deploying, triaging, and managing the various CapitalStream server based products and environments, as well as providing internal and customer deployment training on an as needed basis. This individual will have responsibilities that will require him/her to communicate with multiple departments within the company as well as customers and internal project teams. As an application System Administrator, this individual will on occasion be required to work off-hours to satisfy requirements for the various environments that require support. The individual that accepts this position will be required to carry a cellular phone. Light travel will be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This jobs primary responsibility includes but is not limited to:
  • Responsible for supporting and maintaining 24x7x365 hosted production and test environments.
  • Support and management of Apache, Tomcat, Microsoft Host Integration Server, and other related Internet server applications.
  • Responsible for deploying all versions of CapitalStream’s Java and Oracle-based products in multiple production, staging, and test environments and assist in automating those deployments.
  • Support, manage, and troubleshoot servers and network devices in local and remote data centers.
  • Build and configure Windows 2000, Linux, and UNIX servers.
  • Manage all CapitalStream application components and troubleshoot where necessary.
  • Develop and provide training for internal parties and external customers on installing, configuring and maintaining CapitalStream’s applications.
  • Support various connectivity requirements: Ethernet, TCP/IP, IPSEC, and SNA.
  • Manage, maintain, and prototype various Windows, Linux, and UNIX support sub-systems.
  • Identify and troubleshoot HW, OS and application problems when they arise.
  • Use/develop tools to monitor and notify operations of any problems that may occur within the production and test infrastructure.
  • Assist in system and network planning for both short term and long term goals.
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge in TCP/IP, DNS, BIND, routing concepts.
  • Strong working knowledge with the following Operating systems: Linux, Windows 2000, and UNIX.
  • Strong knowledge of deploying and configuring Apache and Tomcat.
  • Experience with Batch Scripting, VB Script, and Perl desired.
  • Working knowledge installing/configuring/troubleshooting Linux and UNIX systems.
  • Experience working with SQL Server 2000 and Oracle databases desired.
  • 3-5 years experience supporting enterprise-level applications.
  • Working experience working in a 24x7x365, on-call data center environment.
  • Working experience with Cisco Routers, switches, F5 or other IP-based load balancers, IPTables/IPChains firewalls and other networking equipment a plus./li>
  • Experience with IBM Websphere a plus.
  • Experience installing/managing HP/Compaq server hardware.
  • Experience using network and OS-level monitoring tools.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot research and provide proactive resolutions to infrastructure issues.
  • Experience with the following technologies preferred: Java , XML, .NET technologies.
